I know the Professional Doctorate in Youth Justice contains a module about the history of youth justice ...

... but my acceptance is subject to recruitment of a viable cohort?!

I didn't think we were going *that* far back.

So ... muted celebration.

Just as long as they don't expect you to die on your sword ...

Sounds like good news (subject to the flocking of legions *g*) My offical acceptance arrived via e-mail yesterday and was subject to a satisfactory second reference.

Rang Bob. No, they hadn't contacted him, he was happy to do one, and wishe me luck with everything. This is a school of business. Don't they know about requesting references when names are provided?

*sigh*

Just have to work out how to pay for it now. They want a (non-refundable) £200 deposit asap ...

I only know this much because they sent me a different set of application materials and I e-mailed back to say did they want anything else ... the reply I got reads, "Thank you, we have everything we need from you at present, but I thought you would like to receive the latest information regarding on-site dates. I hope to be able to send you an offer - subject to recruitment of a viable cohort - in a few days. We are just having a few problems getting the new course code set up on the central system, and so cannot raise a record for you. Your letter will be on its way as soon as possible. I look forward to meeting you in September."

Since this is the PYJD's first year, they may have trouble getting enough people - I could be being accepted just because I applied :-S

Hmm. Lack of a systems admin post? Failure to log the requirement early enough to get it actioned in time? Good or bad change control process? Inflexible database design?

Or possibly just 'the guy who knows how the computer works is on holiday!' *g*

You aren't making up the numbers if you were first to the starting line ...
