Yay! for weekends
Mar. 24th, 2006 05:14 pmIt's been an absurdly busy week, considering I only had a couple of meetings. Of course one of them was the keystone of my job, and it went well, but it did kick up a lot of little things leading me to remark to the head of the department that I'd just had to get my head round 3 totally different things in 5 minutes, which he seemed to think was par for the course.
Still, made lots of people happy this week - a number of sincere 'thank yous' which is always good - and people I've been trying to get hold of for ages finally returned calls. So, on balance, worth it!
Had a length discussion this afternoon about whether police staff are treated as well as officers, the answer being perhaps for operational police staff, but us office wallahs are still regarded with suspicion and aren't supported especially well.
Today the sun is almost out, but it's supposed to rain tomorrow. I don't mind as I still need to put a second coat of oil on the bench, so if it's warm enough to be in the garage working I shall be quite happy - sorting out the garden for spring can wait another week at least, and we do need the rain badly. It occurred to me the other day that about the only GOOD thing about it being so dry is that they'll probably get further down Wookey Hole than ever before, and I'd really like to know what's down there! Other than that, the prospect is a bit grim, so it'll be saving the washing up water to put on the garden and hoping we don't get to the standpipe point, as I don't think either of us would like that long-term.
Made Mythichistorian laugh earlier in the week, having misread the headline "Action against Vandalism" as "Action against Vampirism", which led me to wonder what it would be like to be press secretary for the Watchers. Imagine trying to write press releases to explain away some of the events of Buffy or Angel!!
