Yesterday - looked at essay. Spread pages out on table.
Did some gardening. Contemplated staining the new CD towers we bought which are in the garage waiting to be put together. Chatted with Mythichistorian, who was home for lunch (ah, the joys of Microsoft Messenger!). Answered a few work e-mails. E-mailed my professor to ask whether there was a timetable for next week (still no reply, I'm beginning to think they don't want me to turn up!).
Picked Phoebesmum up from work and went to Ikea in Milton Keynes. This opened just before Xmas last year, and seemed much bigger than the one in Croydon (but that might just have been because you went up an extra floor to get to the showroom). Bought (finally!) solid dining room chairs - we've had folding ones ever since we bought the dining table, around 17 years ago. These cost £13 each, so pretty basic, but still - solid! Also two filing carts, and more bits and pieces than you could shake a stick at. Even a new Wok, because, you know, it's one of those things you just have to replace every few years and I think the one we've been using since we moved in was the one I had in Grimsby.
Drove home via not-quite-local Chinese - the local Chinese, whilst friendly, produces simply awful food. The one at Bure Park turns out to be better, phew.
"Look at the moon!" said Phoebesmum, animated. It was huge, hung low in the sky, slightly orange - and had a lump missing at the top. A partial eclipse! You don't see one of THOSE every day, and if we hadn't decided to go to Ikea ...
And yes, I'm doing this instead of working on the essay ...
