Sunday again
Jul. 2nd, 2006 12:05 pm.. and there went a week.
I suspect I might have got more done with a whole week off work had it not been *quite* so hot. I did manage to get the various tubs finished in June, if only just, something that should have happened in May but somehow didn't. I also pulled up various things that had finished and replaced them with things that hadn't, if you see what I mean. And very nice it all looks now, except it's so dry I'm expecting everything to keel over and die in the very near future.
I had vaguely thought I might interrupt my 'homework' during the week with trips out, but in the end managed only a trip into town and a spattering of tidying up in the PhD department, promising myself that since I'll be in (probably dire) student accommodation ALL next week, assuming Kim has actually booked it which isn't entirely clear at this precise moment in time, I can get on with sorting stuff out properly then.
Didn't write a word, which led me to realise that apart from having one wild stab at the last chapters of the novel I actually haven't written anything since we moved here except the very short challenge story for Mythichistorian. And I hadn't actually noticed this, which is slightly worrying. Used to be a time I couldn't stop ...
I can honestly say absolutely nothing else exciting happened during the week, apart from a very pleasant trip to Mythichistorian's and Stratford yesterday, although it was rather hot for it. Managed not to get sunburn, or to lose my hat, despite several breezy moments. Oh, and I managed to get my hair cut, which may not seem like much of an achievement but somehow I'm always too busy!!
Played computer games? Oh, well, a bit ... can't seem to get into Oblivion at all, but will persevere with the interface. I did manage to get into Morrowind in the end, it just took a while. The scenery's pretty, anyway, but I do rather miss the freeform style of Daggerfall, where somehow I never got killed as often as I do in the later games. Loaded Sacred on newputer too, since that's one I will definitely play again and again and I had a spare hour to wade through load-the-game, load-the-update, load-the-supplement, load-the-add-on ... and again I had trouble with the sound, which leads me to suspect I shall be demanding a sound card update at some point in time.
I'm dithering over whether to dye my hair. It does need it, but do I want to leave pink stains in PhD student accommodation?
