Because I haven't written anything for a while. This is largely because not a lot happens.
Am mildly pissed off with work at the moment, largely because have strong feeling nobody is actually listening to me. The trouble with working for the police is that they change jobs with startling frequently - one of my guys says if he's been in one job for 2 years he feels he's done something wrong. But this tends to mean that just as I get one boss to understand that I may be a fat, middle-aged woman but I *do* know what I'm talking about, when they change and I have to start all over. Sigh.
Never mind, at least the BCU Commanders still seem to think I'm good :-)
The expensive-trip-to-the-vet means I haven't got the car serviced yet, but I did order a bunch of books of Amazon and they seem to have managed to send them already, so must remember to tells Phoebesmum not to try to helpfully pick said parcel up from sorting office, as it was about 8 paperbacks!! This is largely the next volume of stuff I've read lately, before I forget what the previous book was about. Which I can do in a REMARKABLY short space of time. I'd think this was middle age less creeping up than shouting over my shoulder, but actually it's a skill I've always exhibited. I think I probably have the world's faultiest memory, unless it's Star Trek, in which case I seem to be able to remember a horrible amount of detail. I often rue not spending the couple of years of my life when I obviously had a few memory cells to spare reading something a little more constructive!!
I also got my hair cut, a great improvement. But L'Oreal seem to have discontinued the hair dye I was using, which is a darned nuisance - that's the second one of theirs I've got used to only to have them pull it.
As for homework ... well, I've probably done more than I think I have, but I suspect it's still not enough :-S
On the creative front, have written a few paragraphs of a sort-of-story which, if it goes anywhere, I might post on here because, heck, no idea what else to do with it. Another starring role for Jeff, naturally. Speaking of whom, his Vice ep *may* turn up on Men & Motors in a few weeks, fingers crossed. I still haven't watched the TVM of his I acquired recently, I think I'm saving it for a rainy day. Or something. (And no, I haven't finished the novel.)
We watched the Battlestar Galactica mini-series last night (it's been on the shelf for a while, we just hadn't got around to it). It was moderately enjoyable, if a tad slow, but that may have been just the fact that we got the whole thing in one go rather than in parts (thanks you, DVD company). Phoebesmum also complained several of the characters looked so alike she had trouble figuring out who they were. The nods to the original were more frequent than I was expecting, although no sign of the infamous step ladder, I regret to say. We did laugh at "Captain Apollo ... has a ring to it!" We were also thankful they didn't have so many sex scenes in the original, particularly featuring the original Baltar. *Wince* Better than we expected, but the *real* Colonel Tigh was a much better XO!
Bed time ...
