... in sunny Luton. Actually, strictly speaking, in sunny Putteridge Bury, Luton University's posh bit, a copy of Chequers, although why anyone would want to ...

And yes, it was sunny. It was so sunny one day we all stood out on the terrace wondering whether it would improve our tans.

It was an interesting week, with speakers both academic and professional. The 'professionals' included John Graham, ex-Audit Commission boss, and Ellie Roy, current Youth Justice Board chairperson. All speakers were interesting, although the whole day on social change (mostly politics) made my head hurt. Worse.

The driving back-and-forth left me completely zombified; we have got to find a cheap alternative!!

I now have a book review to do, and need to have an outline of my article (8-10,000 words of publishable quality, by June) by the 2-day event in March. So at some point I really will have to buckle down.

Watched HERO last night, wondering how many wind machines they wore out. At one point Phoebesmum remarked "it must be near the end, they're running out of colours" (you have to have seen it to understand this ...).

Spent most of Saturday afternoon patching Neverwinter Nights on line, then loading two of the add-ons, then patching again. Started a fighter/mage but decided that I really am happiest playing a dual-class Cleric/Rogue. You don't have the frustration of not being able to open chests, and you can cast cures on yourself. This particular incarnation belongs to the school of travelling, which for some strange reason allows her to cast WEB, an exceedingly useful spell. Also the rogue levels allow her to use magic items, and the cleric levels allow her to wear armour and hit things, so really this is an all-purpose combination. Perhaps I should do a PhD in computer games, I spend more time on them than anything else.

Our video is currently non-operative, possibly because of the scart lead, a very silly piece of engineering (my gentleman caller, an engineer, agrees, so this is a Professional Opinion). Unfortunatately our local electrical outlet has closed, so we will have to mount an expedition at some point and I didn't feel up to it today. Also, and this is a complete non-sequiter other than also requiring a trip, we need a new iron. The old one is very old, and never worked properly when it was new. I'm not convinced it works any worse, but it's very frustrating!

La la la, la la la, can't think of anything else interesting to say, so I'll go back to sleep.

PS Haven't watched hours and hours of Jeffrey, but have established I can now telepic Raven to my heart's content when I'm in that kind of a mood :-)
